Strategic Thinking

I read the Internet Business Manifesto and was profoundly effected by it's content. For many years I've been reading self-help literature and various books and courses about "How to become Successful in Business" etc... but never before had I laid my hands on something this powerful. In the manifesto there lies such pertinent information related to starting and growing an Internet business that if you're like me, with tons of practical experience, as soon as you absorb the information in the manifesto it becomes actionable knowledge.

Time Management

Monday's turn to Friday's and time never stops marching forward. Time is such a valuable commodity and one so easily squandered, especially if you work alone, as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Every day I spend a certain amount of time cleaning my inbox of junk mail and attempting to save time by setting filters for the email I do want to save and at the same time attempting to set Eudora (my email program) junk filters to do a better job of automatically trashing the spam. Eudora has a utility called "statistics" which provides an accounting of the use of the software. Today set a new record with 2111 messages received (so far) and over 5 hours using the software to manage, read and compose messages.

All Jackpots Casino In the last few years I've joined over two dozen affiliate programs, mostly in the offshore gaming industry but some in online trading and others in banking and payment services. Of all the banners and text links I've tried across my network of sites the one that converts the most lookers to players is from Brightshare called All Jackpots Casino.

Several weeks ago I was attempting to find a new, lighter version CMS (content management system) on the best comparison site of it's kind, called CMSMatrix.org. When I say new and lighter, I mean new to me and lighter than Movable Type (MT), as I've installed dozens of MT CMS's and publish pages every day using MT but it's too big of a program and more than what I needed a CMS for, which was for publishing, archiving and managing a few dozen articles in a directory and then be able to share those articles across my network.

My CMS comparison research turned up a real gem of a software program and one of the first open source programs of it's kind; TextPattern

Independence Day

My entire life I've held a fascination with the USA, having grown up less than an hours drive from the border, I spent weekends in the winter skiing on a mountain with a ski club called "Borderline". From the top of the mountain you could see as far as the eye could see into Washington State. Many of the ski club members, my friends, were from the States (as we called it). As I grew older the appeal for the land of the free and home of the brave grew and grew, while I often crossed the border with my friends to explore some of the regions closest to British Columbia.

When I was 18 years old I made a trip to Hawaii and for 2 weeks and got a full adult version (I was legal drinking age) of the culture of America, that was the start of a long romance.

Tropical Stonehenge

SAO PAULO, Brazil - A grouping of granite blocks along a grassy Amazon hilltop may be the vestiges of a centuries-old astronomical observatory — a find archaeologists say indicates early rainforest inhabitants were more sophisticated than previously believed. On the shortest day of the year — Dec. 21 — the shadow of one of the blocks disappears when the sun is directly above it.

Canada Day

Canada FlagLiving abroad for the better half of my life makes me a true Ex-patriot (or expat) but that doesn't mean I'm without a homeland. On the contrary, I love Canada to a degree that no-man should possibly feel towards a place, or area of land (dirt and trees). Most of my life away from Canada has been in seeking places with better characteristics, then learning what is it that makes a homeland special. Certainly Brasil has everything and more a person could ever dream of, and Miami's got the best weather with the most modern infrastructure in the world, but if you've ever known Vancouver, and lived in British Columbia, then you'll know why it's easy to be a Canuck.
