WordPress Hosting for Growing Sites

Run WordPress on Linux shared hosting, and move an existing site with a clear checklist.

Who this is for

WordPress publishers, bloggers and small businesses with a WordPress site. These are our Linux shared hosting plans, which run WordPress. They are not a separate managed WordPress service: you keep WordPress, its themes and plugins up to date yourself.

How to move a WordPress site

  1. Take a full backup of your files and database, and download it.
  2. Buy hosting, but don’t change your domain yet.
  3. Install WordPress on the new hosting, or restore your backup with a migration plugin.
  4. Test the site on the new hosting using a temporary address or your computer’s hosts file.
  5. Point your domain to the new hosting, then turn on SSL.
  6. Keep the old hosting for a week, until you’re sure everything works.

Speed, security and maintenance

  • Speed: use a caching plugin, compress images and keep plugins to the ones you need.
  • Security: use strong passwords, keep WordPress and plugins updated, and add SSL.
  • Backups: schedule backups with a plugin and store a copy away from your hosting.
  • Support: hosting account help is available through the store’s support centre. WordPress itself is supported by its own community.

Questions buyers ask

Is this managed WordPress hosting?

No. It’s Linux shared hosting that runs WordPress. You handle WordPress updates, plugins and backups. If you need someone to manage that for you, consider a WordPress maintenance service.

Can I move my existing WordPress site?

Yes. Follow the checklist above. Keep your old hosting active until the move is tested.

Will WooCommerce work?

WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin and runs on these plans. Busy stores with many products or orders may need a VPS for consistent speed.

Ready to host WordPress?

Start with the Advanced Hosting Plan. You can move to a bigger plan later.
