Protection
SSL Certificates
SSL encrypts the connection between your site and its visitors and shows the padlock in the browser. Many hosting plans include a basic certificate; buy one separately when you need more validation or a wildcard.
| Certificate | Validation and coverage | 1 year | 2 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard SSL | Domain validated (DV), 1 domain | $9.48 | $33.36 |
| Premium SSL | Domain validated (DV), 1 domain | $48.00 | $96.00 |
| Wildcard SSL | One domain and all its subdomains | $71.88 | $143.76 |
| EV SSL | Extended validation | $156.00 | $240.00 |
Certificates are now issued for shorter periods (the store lists a 200-day maximum), so a multi-year purchase is renewed by reissuing the certificate. Reissues are included.

Continuity
Website Backup
A dedicated website backup product is coming soon to our store. Until then, keep regular backups with your hosting control panel or a backup plugin, and store a copy somewhere other than your hosting account.
Website Protection
We don’t currently sell a website scanning or firewall product. These steps cover most small-business risk:
- Keep your CMS, themes and plugins updated.
- Use strong, unique passwords and two-factor sign-in.
- Turn on SSL for every site.
- Back up regularly and test a restore.
- Remove plugins and user accounts you no longer use.
Questions buyers ask
Do I need SSL if my hosting includes one?
Usually not. A paid certificate makes sense when you need wildcard coverage or higher validation.
Can I keep my current email while I switch?
Yes. Set up the new mailboxes first, then update your domain’s mail records. Plan the switch for a quiet time.
