Ever since I started network computing in the early 90's I was interested in finding collaboration and communication software that enabled people to work together as a team, over the Internet, from different regions of the world. I remember Lotus Notes when it first came out and having about 24 floppy disks to install to make it work, then later Groove was born from some of the same minds that created Notes but as the web evolved so did the evolution of Instant Messaging, from a simple AIM, to MSN and Yahoo and most recently Skype with video, seemed to take over as a major tool for team communication, however it just wasn't enough.
In the past few years, after joining almost every Social Network and Bookmarking site that hit the radar screen on Mashable (one of my favorite networking sites) and narrowing them down to a few that I like and have stuck with, I realized that there was still something missing, namely: the tools for corporate collaboration, so I found myself on Google more and more often, using the tools they provide for collaboration but the Instant messenger was missing. Now, as of tomorrow the Google Wave changes all that and will forever change the way people work and communicate together on the Internet.
