Power of Now

When I attempt to control my random thinking and concentrate my mind's processing power to solving problems or dictating out-comes of situations I still find that it's difficult with all the noise going on in there. I once read that the average person has 60,000 thoughts per day and I find that easy to imagine, given that most of them are happening without even being recognized, and that multi-tasking is natural, which I've proven to myself by carefully monitoring the mind's thoughts, as this extraordinary book has suggested to do. It's a marvel to become the observer of one's own mind, it's habit forming.

Thanks to the advice in the "The Power of Now" my life has become more meaningful as I learn how to control my mind. Each day I improve and find that I take more pleasure in detail and am more thankful of smaller things. Plus the people in my life are benefiting from the greater attention that I pay towards their cares and concerns, or just to their presence in my energy field. I'm less distracted and more aware of things going on around me.

The very act of writing in my journal, from which I'm writing these words, is a practice in quietening my mind, in an attempt to become more present in the moment and be here now.
